Research Profiles: ORCID

A how-to on all things author-promotion

Creating Your Account

ORCID is free! If you would prefer to set up your own account, you can simply let our team know during your orientation. In the example below, IFPRI Library is signing up for an account. It takes seconds to fill out the necessary information. You must fill in the information for your name and email. You may add two email addresses (CGIAR and a personal email). IFPRI recommends choosing to be visible to everyone. To register for an ORCID id, click here.

Managing Your Profile

Once you are signed in, you should start actively managing your profile. You should first list any affiliations, educational institutions, and fellowships you have had. You can then add works to your profile. See how here. There are time-saving ways to automatically update your profile. See more here. If you choose this option, you should continue to check on your profile every few months to catch any publications that have not been updated through this process.

IFPRI and ORCiD

IFPRI assigns ORCID numbers and profiles to IFPRI researchers upon request or need based on a publication. Contact the library to request an ORCID profile. If you are new to IFPRI and have an ORCID number already, let the Knowledge Management team know so that we can assign any upcoming research to you, and no one else.
