Search Strategies Across Platforms

About WorldCat Discovery Search

WorldCat (short for World Catalog) lists library holdings from over 10,000 libraries around the world. From here, you will be able to see everything IFPRI provides access (both in print and online), as well as things that IFPRI does not provide access but can obtain for you via Interlibrary Loan. Worldcat is best used as a companion tool to one of the other databases (CAB, EconLit, Google Scholar, Web of Science).

WorldCat Search Tips

  • Use advanced search to narrow results from the beginning.
    • Scroll down to see other filters, such as year range, and peer reviewed only.
  • When looking at your search results, make sure that it is sorted by BEST MATCH. The system will default to Recency, but this can negatively impact the accuracy of your search results.
  • Utilize the remaining filters.
  • If you need immediate access, click on Held by Library -> IFPRI. If you can wait for an Interlibrary Loan request to be filled, or you are more interested in seeing what there is available, you can stay on Libraries Worldwide.
