Using CGSpace

This is a guide to using all aspects of the CGIAR Consortial Repository, CGSpace.

What is CGSpace?

CGIAR Repository (CGSpace)

CGSpace is a repository of documents and other information and knowledge products from several CGIAR Centers and Programs spanning the years 1975 to the present. There, you will find publications affiliated with the CGIAR System Organization, as well as individual CGIAR Centers and some non-CGIAR projects. It is a tool to archive, curate, disseminate and permanently preserve research outputs and information products. CGSpace is both a repository of open access content and a complete index of research outputs.

This guide will teach you how to search, browse, and collect metrics on the different publications. If you are an approved submitter or editor, this guide will also teach you how to complete those tasks. If you are think you should be a submitter, send a request through this page.

Note: Not all content is available directly from CGSpace. Many records link to content on other platforms (such as journal articles). All efforts have been made to provide high quality information. Links off the site are not the responsibility of CGSpace content partners and collaborators.

I'm a researcher. Why should I use CGSpace?

As a researcher, you will find a comprehensive set of the research output of the contributing Centers. CGSpace has impressive records of over 100,000 research outputs, with approximately 80% being freely available. Most pages include a download option and/or a link to an external location. You can search for and download the full text for items where a Center holds copyright, and be directed to the full text for journal articles written by Center authors.

I'm a research donor. Why should I use CGSpace?

Administrators of CGSpace recognize the appeal of allowing donors and hopeful donors to assess the return on their investment. As a donor, you can search for listings of outputs funded by specific donors. Individual record pages will include an option to view all metadata and usage metrics. You can also produce reports in Word or Excel on donor/funder using the AReS reporting and visualizing tool. Individual records will indicate the donor/funder within the metadata.
