Using CGSpace

This is a guide to using all aspects of the CGIAR Consortial Repository, CGSpace.

How do I search CGSpace?

Discovery on CGSpace is conducted either by navigating records using the the community/collection hierarchical structure or using the search/facet interface.

Advanced search using Boolean operators is possible by entering the search syntax into the search bar. Details about how that works is available here and is applicable to any DSpace repository.

Search facets

  • Advanced search is conducted through the facets. Expand and select options or type to find the field you want
  • All parameters are restrictive, meaning as you add parameters the operation is an AND which restricts results to few items. Advanced Boolean searches are possible and discussed here
  • You can search for a value within every facet if the value you want is not visible
  • Select from more than one facet

Select a single date or a range

All selections are displayed at the top of the search results

How do I browse CGSpace?

You may browse through CGSpace using the repository's community-collection structure. You begin by clicking on 'Browse' from the homepage and then selecting a community. Then you select either a subcommunity or a collection. The results can be further refine by selecting.

You will notice some communities have customized landing pages and/or banners, but the navigation and other functions are the same across the repository. Individual items can be part of more than one community or collection.
